Latvian Border Guard College badge

The badge of the State Border Guard College is based on an oval shield made of gilded silver. The shield is framed by a wreath of patinated silver oak branches. In its lower part, on a two‑line gilded silver ribbon twist, the inscription “BORDER GUARD COLLEGE” is placed. The inscription is positioned on the gilded silver ribbon twist.

In the upper part of the wreath, three stars made of gilded silver are set.

In the center of the shield, a depiction of a border post in hot enamel is placed, on which a semicircular (Spanish‑style) blue hot‑enamel shield is mounted, featuring a silver griffin. On the griffin is a small triangular (Gothic‑style) hot‑enamel shield in the national colors of Latvia. This design is similar to the coat of arms of the city of Rēzekne (in the Rēzekne coat of arms, the griffin is golden).

On the lower part of the post, an open book is depicted, with the divided year “16.06.1992.” embedded in it, made of silver.

The badge is made of silver with gilded details.

The badge is worn with any uniform on the left breast pocket, or on the left side of the chest when wearing civilian clothing.

The State Border Guard (Latvian: Valsts Robežsardze) is the border guard of Latvia.

The State Border Guard is an institution subordinated to the Minister of the Interior. The State Border Guard is an armed institution and it serves to ensure the security of the state border and to prevent illegal migration.

The State Border Guard ensures surveillance of 276 km long border between the Republic of Latvia and Russian Federation, 172,9 km long border between the Republic of Latvia and the Republic of Belarus, and 498 km long sea border (external EU border), as well as monitoring of 343 km long border between the Republic of Latvia and the Republic of Estonia and 588 km long border between the Republic of Latvia and the Republic of Lithuania (internal EU border).
