Detailed Description
Design & Mechanics This vintage pocket lighter is constructed around a classic three-piece slip-case format consisting of an upper protective cap, a bottom sleeve, and an internal removable fuel core. The ignition assembly incorporates a knurled steel spark wheel, a side-mounted flint tube, and an internal fuel chamber packed with absorbent cotton wadding and a braided wick. The mechanism is in functional working order, throwing a crisp spark upon rotation (requires lighter fluid before use).
Markings & Historical Context
Fuel Chamber Inscription: The central aluminium reservoir is stamped with the German text "Nur für Marketenderzwecke 1942" ("Only for military canteen / sutler purposes 1942"), referencing goods supplied through armed forces sutler services (Marketenderei).
Maker Designation: Stamped along the side of the upper cap is the manufacturer mark "FEUDOR 69-2".
Decorative Emblems: The front casing displays an engraved German eagle with swastika motif (Reichsadler) on the cap and a radiant sunburst emblem with a swastika on the lower sleeve, reminiscent of the starburst pattern used on the German Cross.
Base Insert: The bottom base features an inlaid, decorative brass-tone filigree cartouche panel.
